The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the official notification inviting applications for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2022.

The number of vacancies to be filled through the examination is expected to be approximately 861 which include 34 vacancies reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disability Category. 

The preliminary examination for recruitment of officers in Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Forest Service (IFS) will be conducted by the UPSC on June 5, 2022.
      

Candidates who will qualify the preliminary examination will have to apply online again and submit Detailed Application Form-I [DAF-I] for admission to the Civil Services (Main) Examination.

How to Apply:

Candidates are required to apply online using the website http://www.upsconline.nic.in. Detailed instructions for filling up online applications are available on the website.

Educational Qualification: 

A candidate must hold a graduate degree or possess an equivalent qualification.

Age Limits:

A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on August 1, 2022 i.e., the candidate must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1990 and not later than 1st August 2001. The upper age limit will be relaxable for reserved categories.  

Application Last Date: 

The online applications can be filled up to February 22, 2022, till 6 pm. The eligible candidates shall be issued an e-Admit Card three weeks before the commencement of the examination. 

Plan of Examination:

The Civil Services Examination will consist of two successive stages-Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) and Civil Services (Main) Examination (Written and Interview) 

Number of Attempts: 

Every candidate shall be permitted six attempts. However, relaxation in the number of attempts will be available to the SC/ST (Unlimited), OBC (9) and PwBD (9)category candidates. 

Fee:

Candidates (excepting Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability Candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay fee of Rs 100.
