The central government has directed all its ministries and departments to take action in a mission mode to fill up 10 lakh vacant posts in a time-bound manner, Union Minister Jitendra Singh told Rajya Sabha recently.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 14, 2022 had made the announcement regarding the recruitment of 10 lakh people by the government in a mission mode over the next 1.5 years.

Replying to a question of Sandeep Kumar Pathak in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Jitendra Singh shared the Department and Ministry-wise breakdowns of vacancies that are sought to be filled up in the maga recruitment drive.

“As per Annual Report of Pay Research Unit of Department of Expenditure, the details of sanctioned posts and number in position under various Ministries/Departments in the Central Government as on 01.03.2021 is annexed. However, filling up of vacancies in the central government is responsibility of the concerned Ministry/Department and it is a continuous process,” Singh said.

“Vacancies in various Ministries/ Departments of the Central Government, their attached/subordinate offices arise due to retirement, promotion, resignation and death. All Ministries/ Departments of the central government have been asked to take action in a mission mode for filling up of vacant posts in a time-bound manner,” he added.
