CBSE Board Exam 2025: Exam details for Class 10 and Class 12 students released

CBSE has announced the exam schedule for Class 10 and Class 12 board exams in 2025, with theory exams starting on February 15. Special guidelines are released for winter-bound schools.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has unveiled the subject-wise mark distribution for CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations 2025.

The board has also declared key dates. While Practical examinations and Internal Assessments for both class 10 and 12 will commence on 1st January 2025, theory exams will start on February 15, 2025. The circulars also have details of subject-wise mark distribution for all subjects for both classes. 

However, for the winter-bound schools, CBSE has released another circular mentioning, “The winter bound schools are expected to remain closed during January due to winter. Accordingly, the Practical/Project/lnternal Assessment for the session 2024-25 for Classes 10 and 12 will be conducted from November 5 to December 5, 2024.” 

CBSE also released separate SOPs and guidelines for conduction of examination in winter bound schools.

CBSE recently released a circular for the smooth conduction of Practical/Project/lnternal Assessment and Theory Examinations mentioning a list of subjects for Classes 10 and 12 containing the following details:

  • Class

  • Subject Code

  • Subject Name

  • Maximum Marks Theory Examination

  • Maximum Marks Practical Examination

  • Maximum Marks Project Assessment

  • Maximum Marks Internal Assessment (IA)

  • Whether External Examiner will be appointed for practical/project assessment

  • Whether Practical Answer-book will be provided by the Board

  • Type of Answer Book that will be used in Theory Examinations

The board mandates a 75% attendance of a student to be eligible for the board examination. However, a 25% relaxation is offered only to students in cases of exigencies such as - medical emergencies, participation in national or international sports events, and other serious reasons, provided the necessary documentation is submitted.

Students are encouraged to download sample papers for Class 10 and Class 12 from the CBSE academic portal at cbseacademic.nic.in. Familiarizing themselves with these sample papers can help students understand the exam pattern and marking scheme, as per CBSE.
