The much-awaited Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test (OSSTET), 2022 is likely to be conducted on January 12, 2023, official sources said.

Conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha, the candidates will have to appear the OSSTET paper 1 and paper 2 from 10 am to 12 noon. The candidates can download their admit cards by visiting the official website from January 5, 2023 onwards by entering their registration number and email id.

However, the candidates cannot appear the OSSTET in their own district. Such a decision has been taken to put a check on incidents of malpractice and other unfair means during the conduct of the examination.

The OSSTET is the mandatory eligibility test to determine the eligibility of candidates for appointment as high school teacher in the State. The minimum pass mark in each paper is 45%. A person securing 45% or more in each paper shall be considered to have qualified OSSTET.

In case of SC/ST/PH/SEBC candidates, the minimum pass mark shall be 35%. Recently, the Odisha government announced to fill up 7540 high school teacher posts.

The last date to complete registration was November 23. The OSSTET pass certificate shall remain valid till the candidate reaches the upper age limit prescribed for recruitment of teachers as per rules or executive instructions prescribed by the government from time to time.

The school and mass education department had included communicative English and business economics in Arts (TGT arts) in paper 1 after some aspirants moved Orissa High Court for inclusion of several subjects. Similarly, life science was also included in Science (TGT Science and CBZ)
