The Orissa High Court on Monday ordered Odisha Sub-Ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) to halt appointment of Multipurpose Health Worker (MPHW).
In September 2024, the OSSSC had declared the results of MPHW with an aim to fill up a total of 2753 vacancies across the state.
Several candidates had moved the court challenging the OSSSC MPHW recruitment. Hearing their petitions, the High Court stayed appointment of MPHW till further orders.
The court will hear the case next in the first week of March.

For the recruitment of 2753 female health workers, OSSSC had released an official recruitment notification on April 29, 2023.
For the recruitment of MPHW, a 100-mark written exam was conducted. There was negative marking for wrong answers. Later, it was alleged that 13 answers were wrong while there was no clarity over answers of eight questions. Following this, several candidates had moved the High Court.
OSSSC Directed to Expedite Recruitment Process to fill Vacant Posts:
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi recently directed the chairpersons of OSSSC, OPSC and OSSC to expedite the recruitment process to fill up 1.1 lakh vacant government posts.
CM Majhi said that the vacant positions in essential services such as health, home, education, and agriculture should be filled up as soon as possible so that these critical departments function effectively and efficiently.
As per reports, currently, there are around 1,10,557 vacant positions in various departments across the state. The state government has set a target to employ around 1.5 lakh people in five years and fill up around 65000 vacant posts in the first two years.
