The Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) has released a notification for the engagement of a legal consultant to advise the commission on all legal matters.
Interested candidates having a law degree and at least 10 years of experience as practicing lawyer in different courts, especially the High Court and State Administrative Tribunal / Central Administrative Tribunal can apply for the post.
Government servants whose primary function/role was legal e.g. prosecutors and those working in the Law Department etc. and retired Judges are also eligible to apply.
Main function of the Legal Consultant
(a) Advise OSSC on all legal matters including pending cases in courts and the State Information Commission. (Most of the work is about litigation relating to various recruitment examinations).
(b) Prepare or vet reply/counter to be filled in different cases in different courts.
(c) Follow up the proceedings in court through our Counsel.
Remuneration
(a) Selected Lawyers will be entitled to consolidated remuneration up to Rs.60,000/- per month to be fixed with the concurrence of the Finance Department and with the approval of the Government.
(b) Remuneration of retired Govt. servants including retired judges shall be fixed as per existing provisions of G.A. and Finance Department.
The Legal Consultant will be expected to attend the OSSC office or court every working day from 10 am to 5.30 pm like other Commission staff. Legal Consultant would be provided with suitable office space in the OSSC office.

Applications should be submitted through email only to support.ossc@gov.in on or before 7 September 2023. (b) Selection would be through interview. (c) If number of applications is large, the Commission will shortlist applicants for interview.
