OPSC OAS 2022 topper Swetashree Mohapatra took 1 year to quit corporate job, cracks exam in 1st attempt

Swetashree Mohapatra from Bhadrak has topped the Odisha Civil Services Examination-2022, as announced by the Odisha Public Service Commission. With a BTech degree from NIT Durgapur, Swetashree quit her corporate job after three years for full-time exam preparation.

A resident of Bhadrak, Swetashree Mohapatra has been on cloud nine as she has emerged topper in the Odisha Civil Services Examination-2022, the results of which were announced by the Odisha Public Service Commission on Saturday.

Swetashree’s achievement is an enviable one. She has cracked it in her first attempt and the cherry on the top is she has emerged topper.

When contacted to know her reactions, she was travelling from Bhadrak to Bhubaneswar. Her first reaction was that she was very happy to know the results. “I was expecting a rank but not expecting to top the exam. It is sheer surprise." 

She credited her success to her supportive parents, siblings and friends. 

“I would like to give the credit of my success to my parents, siblings, friends and everyone around me,” she said.

She said her main goal has been UPSC and will try for that. 

Narrating about her journey so far, she said, “I have done my BTech from NIT, Durgapur in electronic and communication engineering. After BTech, I took job for three years in the corporate sector till 2022 and then quit job as I decided to prepare full-time for it. It took me one year to decide to quit my job.”

“I started my preparation in 2022. Every day, I was studying seven to eight hours and I had a grasp for all the subjects and that helped,” she added. 

“I would like to say to all who are preparing that they should do hard work as well as smart work, studying for eight to nine hours daily with full concentration. If there is a financial problem, take guidance from seniors and friends. They who are preparing should continue and they will get the results,” she added. 

When asked about her preferred sector, she said education of children and women empowerment sectors are close to her heart.
