The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) on Thursday formally announced the enhancement of upper age limit for recruitment to the posts of assistant section officers (ASOs) in Group B of Odisha Secretariat Service under the Home Department.

The Commission today issued a corrigendum regarding the enhancement of age limit of applicants from 32 years to 38 years. The State Cabinet had earlier approved increasing the upper age limit to 38 years for three years- 2021, 2022 and 2023.  

The relaxation in the upper age limit will enable a large number of candidates who have crossed the age limit to apply for 796 (265 women) posts of ASO. The online application process for the mega recruitment drive is currently underway through the official website of OPSC-www.opsc.gov.in. 

As per the revised age limit, candidates must not be above the age of 38 years as on first day of January 2021 i.e., he/ she must have been born not earlier than 2nd January, 1983.

"This Corrigendum is being issued following amendment made to Odisha Civil Service (Fixation of Upper Age Limit) Rules, 1989 raising upper age limit from 32 to 38 years," the Commission said.  

"All other terms and conditions of the Advertisement shall remain unchanged," it added.   

As per the detailed advertisement released earlier, a candidate who possesses a Bachelor's Degree from any recognised university and have adequate knowledge in computer applications can apply for the posts.

Exam Fee: Candidates have to pay non-refundable fee of Rs 500. ST/SC and persons with disabilities (more than 40%) are exempted.

Salary: The candidates selected for the posts (permanent) will be employed in the pay scale of Rs 35400 in Level 9 of Cell 1 as per the Pay Matrix under Rule 3 of ORSP Rules, 2017.

Method of Selection: Candidates will be selected on the basis of Written test (Objective type questions) and Skill Test (Practical qualifying).
