The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has announced to undertake a special recruitment drive for SC and ST category candidates to fill 1586 posts of Medical Officers (Assistant Surgeons) in Group A (Junior branch) of the Odisha Medical and Health Services Cadre.
The posts will be filled by Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Odisha in the pay matric of level 12, cell 1 of ORSP Rules, 2017 with usual dearness and other allowances.
As per the official OPSC notification, the link for registration/re-registration shall be available from August 7. The last date for submission of registered online application is August 21, 2021. Out of the total 1586 posts, 585 are reserved for SC category and 1001 for ST category candidates.

A candidate must - (i) have possessed M.B.B.S. or equivalent Degree from a Medical College or Medical Institution recognised by the Medical Council of India.
(ii) have possessed a valid registration certificate under the Odisha Medical Registration Act, 1961 10.A. 18 of 1961): provided that, if a candidate outside the State of Odisha has not registered his name under the Odisha Council of Medical Registration established under Section 3 of the Odisha Medical Registration Act, 1961, he shall get himself registered as per the provisions of the said Act before issue of the appointment order.
(iii) have possessed required conversion certificates recognised by Medical Council of India (MCI) in case of candidate having Degrees from Universities of Foreign Countries.
Method of selection: The selection of candidates for Special Recruitment Drive to the posts of Medical Officers (Assistant Surgeon) will be made on the basis of Written Test only. T
he written examination shall consist of one paper of 3 hours duration having 200 questions carrying 200 marks (1 mark for each question) which shall be of multiple choice (MCQ pattern), with no negative marking for wrong answers.
The written examination will be held at Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
