The Odisha government will follow the pattern of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in the State Civil Services Examination. A decision in this regard was taken at a review meeting recently. 

The review meeting on recruitments of OPSC, OSSC and OSSSC was held on August 8, 2022 at the Chief Minister's Office. During the meeting, the heads of the three government recruiting bodies made detailed presentations on recruitments made in 2021-22, recruitments to be made in 2022-23 and challenges of the commissions.

After further discussion, it was decided that the pattern of OCS Examination shall be made in the line with the pattern followed by UPSC. 

The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) was asked to submit relevant rules of different States required for necessary amendment while the GA & PG Department was entrusted with responsibility of making necessary amendment in OCS (CCRE) Rules by September 30, 2022. 

Besides, decision has also been taken to include ASO Cadre in the Civil services examination.

"OPSC shall submit the revised proposal for amendment of OPSC (Method of Recruitment & Conditions of Service of Staff) Regulations, 1994 as per discussion to include ASO Cadre by 16.08.2022. Accordingly, necessary amendment of OPSC Regulations will be made by 15.10.2022," a letter of the GA & PG department read. 

Moreover, all the three Commissions viz, OPSC, OSSC and OSSSC have been asked to submit a report on sanctioned strength, men in position and vacancy details of the respective Commissions and proposal for filling up of those posts by OSS Cadre by 16.08.2022.
