  • It is for the first time that Odisha Police will be conducting the recruitment through computer-based written examination.

The online application process for mega recruitment drive conducted by the Odisha Police has started from Tuesday. As per the official notification, applications are being invited to recruit 477 Sub-inspectors in the State.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Odisha government has also allowed Transgenders to apply for the vacancies in the police force.

Official sources said Odisha is the second State in the country after Tamil Nadu to allow recruitment of Transgenders at Police Sub-inspector level. Apart from this, it is for the first time that Odisha Police will be conducting the recruitmen through computer-based written examination.

Application filing dates: June 22 to July 15

CBRE Written Exams: From August 6 to August 16, 2021 (tentative).

Simplification for Transparency:

Single written computer based exam of 2 papers with MCQ type objective questions (as against Prelims and essay type Main Exam earlier).

Number of events for Physical Efficiency Test (PET) reduced; PET only qualifying in nature. No viva voce.

Eligibility:

Age- Must not be below 21 years and above 25 years of age as on 1.1.2021.

Upper age limit relaxation: 5 years in case of ST,SC, SEBC and women candidates. Period of service rendered in Armed Forces in case of Ex-Servicemen. In-Service contractual employees who have rendered at least one year of continuous service prior to commencement of the Odisha Group B posts (Contractual Appointment) Rules, 2013 and are below 45 years of age are eligible.

Minimum Educational Qualification: Must have passed a Bachelors degree in any discipline from a recognised university. Candidates who have not taken Odia as a subject in HSC standard must possess requisite certificate of passing ME standard in Odia as a Language subject.
