A whopping 72585 teaching aspirants have applied for the posts of regular teachers in the Government Secondary Schools, which is nearly 10 times more than the advertised vacancies.

The Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) had announced 7540 posts of regular teachers to be filled up under Odisha School and Mass Education Department.   

As per the OSSC, as many as 72585 candidates have successfully submitted applications for the posts while the applications of 5484 candidates have been rejected.

“The detail rejection list along with grounds of rejection has been uploaded on the website of the Commission www.ossc.gov.in for information of candidates,” the OSSC said in a notice.

The government recruiting body further informed that a preliminary examination will be conducted for the posts of TGT Arts, TGT Science (PCM) and TGT Science (CBZ) to shortlist candidates for Main written examination as the number of valid applications for the posts is more than five times the advertised vacancies. 

For the remaining posts, the Main written examination will be conducted directly as the number of valid applications is less than five times the advertised vacancies. 

As per the details shared by the commission, the Preliminary Examination will be conducted between March 10 and 13, 2023.

The Preliminary examination will consist of 100 questions carrying 100 marks. The questions will be objective type with multiple choice of answer. There will be a negative marking 0.25 mark per each wrong answer.

“The candidates are advised to keep constant touch with the OSSC website for further updates in the matter,” the commission added.
