The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has released an important notification for person with disability (PwD) candidates who are going to appear in the upcoming Odisha Civil Services (OCS-2020) main written examination. 

The OCS (Main) Examination-2020 is slated to be held from January 20, 2022 to February 6, 2022 (Except 26.01.2022 & 05.02.2022).  

In a notification issued on December 27, the Commission informed that 29 candidates from three categories of benchmark disability have been allowed to take the assistance of scribe.

"The Persons with benchmark disabilities in the category of Blindness, Locomotor Disability (both arm affected) & Cerebral Palsy shall be allowed to take the assistance of Scribe in the OCS main examination 2020," the Commission said. 

The candidates have been asked to furnish detail information about the scribe by email to OPSC (Email ID- opsc@nic.in) which should reach the Commission's Office on or before January 4, 2022 for consideration. 

Apart from the three categories, other category of persons with benchmark disabilities who have opted to take the assistance of scribe have been asked to furnish a written statement from the Chief Medical Officer or Civil Surgeon or Medical Superintendent of a Government Health care Institution to the effect that, the person concerned has physical limitation to write and scribe is essential to write in the examination on his behalf. 

"After obtaining the certificate regarding physical limitation, from the CMO or any other competent authority as stated above, these candidates shall submit the details of their own scribe as per proforma at APPENDIX-II by email to OPSC (Email ID- opsc@rnic.in) which should reach the Commission on or before January 4, 2022 positively for consideration of the Commission," the notice said.  

The Commission mandated that the qualification of the scribe should be one step below the qualification of the candidate taking examination. 

"The candidate who fails to furnish the detail information by the stipulated date shall not be allowed to take assistance of scribe under any circumstances," it added.
