The Indian Army has announced opportunities for Short Service Commission course applications. 

Interested candidates meeting the eligibility criteria can submit their applications online via the official Join Indian Army website at joinindianarmy.nic.in. 

The registration period commenced on January 23 and will conclude on February 21, 2024.

Total Vacancy: 381 posts

  • SSC(Tech) Men: 350 posts

  • SSC(Tech) Women: 29 posts

  • Widows of Defence Personnel: 2 posts

Educational Qualification

For SSC (Tech), eligible candidates must have completed the required Engineering Degree course or be in the final year of the Engineering Degree program. Those in the final year should be capable of providing evidence of passing the Engineering Degree Examination, including all semester/year marksheets, by October 1, 2024.

For Widows of Defence Personnel, a graduation degree in any discipline is required for Non Tech positions, and a B.E. / B. Tech degree in any Engineering stream is necessary for Tech positions.

Age Limit

For SSC (Tech) - 63 Men and SSCW (Tech) - 34 Women, the age limit is 20 to 27 years as of October 1, 2024. This applies to candidates born between October 2, 1997, and October 1, 2004, both days inclusive. For Widows of Indian Armed Forces Defence Personnel who Died in Harness Only, the age limit for SSCW (Non Tech) [Non UPSC] and SSCW (Tech) is a maximum of 35 years as of October 1, 2024.

Training

The chosen candidates will undergo training at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai, allocated based on their position in the final order of merit within their respective engineering streams. The training will be conducted for a duration of 49 weeks, subject to meeting all eligibility criteria and the availability of vacancies.
