A government school teacher at Majhigadia Upgraded High School in the Kaptipada block of Mayurbhanj district is under scrutiny for allegedly misleading the government to obtain a teaching post.

Sindhusuta Nayak, the teacher in question, reportedly completed her Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in 2009 and her Bachelor of Education (BEd) in 2013, as confirmed by a Right to Information (RTI) Act request.

However, between 2008 and 2012, Sindhusuta is believed to have simultaneously held a position as a staff nurse at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, receiving a full salary during this period. This has raised suspicions regarding her full-time courses while being employed full-time in the government sector.

The allegations have sparked concerns about discrepancies in official records and raised questions about oversight in the verification of educational credentials for government positions.

When sought for her comments, Sindhusuta, alongside the head teacher of Majhigadia Upgraded High School, refused to make any statements on camera and expressed their displeasure at being questioned.

“All my documents are in the DEO office for verification purposes. The DEO is also well aware of it. All the documents have also been verified,” claimed the teacher Sindhusuta Nayak. On the other hand, the school principal Sirish Chandra Kar refused to make any comments in this regard.

The District Education Officer (DEO) assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted to uncover the truth, stating, "We will ensure appropriate measures are taken based on the findings."

DEO Purnachandra Sethy said, “If she was in a contractual job and simultaneously completed her education, there is nothing to worry. If there are any other complaints, we will launch a probe.”
