Nowadays, a government job is the most sought-after career option for the majority of educated youths due to varied reasons like job stability, decent salary and a good reputation in society.

However, many government sector jobs mandate applicants to get their names registered in employment exchanges in order to apply for the vacancies.

In Odisha, a candidate can register his/her name with the Employment Exchange under whose jurisdiction he/she resides. Job seekers need to visit the district employment exchange and register their names by following the prescribed procedures.

As per the existing rules, dual registration is looked upon as a penal offence and the punishment for the offence amounts to forfeiture of registration.

However, candidates possessing Professional and Executive qualifications can register their names in the Professional and Executive Employment Office, Bhubaneswar and retain their registration in the local exchange also.

In the recent advertisement for 5396 posts of panchayat executive officer (PEO) and junior assistant, the Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC) has also mandated candidates to register their names in the employment exchange before submission of the applications.
