The East Coast Railway has announced to impart skill development training to 2500 youths in its zone under the Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana (RKVY), which was inaugurated by railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw through a video conference from New Delhi on Friday.

As per an official statement, free training for skill development will be provided to unemployed youths (in the age group of 18-35 years) having minimum qualification as matriculation passed under the RKVY scheme, an initiative of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).

Candidates successfully completing the skill training will get certificates.

In Odisha, the skill development training will be provided at Carriage Repair Workshop at Mancheswar in Bhubaneswar and Electric Loco Shed at Angul. This apart, two other railway locations -Diesel Loco Shed Visakhapatnam and Electric Loco Shed Visakhapatnam- in Andhra Pradesh have been selected as training institutes.

"The training will be given on various trades like welding, electrician and fitter at these institutions with 20 slots at each location. The training will consist of 100 hours in three weeks and will continue till 2023 covering around 1200 candidates in Odisha, said Suratha Jani, Chief Electrical Engineer (Planning) East Coast Railway.

Addressing the skill training ceremony inauguration event at the aforementioned locations through a video link from New Delhi, Union Minister Vaishnaw said unemployed youths of this region can learn different skills and develop themselves for entrepreneurship or for jobs in different industries after getting skill development training from the training centres under the RKVYs.
