The Indian Air Force has published an official notification for the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) 02/2024.

Interested and eligible candidates can apply for the posts at www.afcat.cdac.in.

The application process is likely to commence on May 30 and will conclude on June 28, 2024.

Flying Branch

  • Men (SSC): 18 posts

  • Women (SSC): 11 posts

Ground Duty (Technical Branch)

  • Men (SSC): 124 posts

  • Women (SSC): 32 posts

Non-Technical Branch

  • Men (SSC): 95 posts

  • Women (SSC): 24 posts

NCC Special Entry

  • Flying Branch: 10% of seats (both men and women)

Educational Qualification

To join the Flying Branch of the Air Force, candidates must have passed the 12th class with at least 50% marks and must have studied Physics and Maths. Following this, they need to have cleared graduation with at least 60% marks in any discipline or obtained a BTech degree with at least 60% marks. 

For Ground Duty positions, candidates must have passed 12th with Physics and Maths with at least 50% marks and must hold a graduate degree with at least 60% marks in engineering or technology. 

Age Limit

The age limit for candidates applying to the Flying Branch is between 20 to 24 years old, and for Ground Duty, it is between 20 to 26 years old, both as of July 1, 2025.

Selection Process

The selection process for the Air Force includes a written test, an Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) interview test, and a medical examination. The AFCAT written exam carries a total of 300 marks and consists of 100 questions to be answered in two hours. These questions cover subjects such as general awareness, verbal ability in English, numerical ability, reasoning, and military aptitude. All questions are objective and presented in English. The exam features negative markings, with one mark deducted for each wrong answer. Candidates who successfully clear the AFCAT 2 exam will be eligible for courses starting in July 2025 and will be granted a Short Service Commission (SSC).
