US President Donald Trump
In a stern all-caps warning to Israel, US President Donald Trump on Tuesday asked the country to ‘not drop bombs’ on Iran further, adding that doing so will be a 'major violation' of the ceasefire agreed upon by both countries.
Trump launched a sharp rebuke of Israel’s conduct during the ongoing ceasefire, accusing both Israel and Iran of breaching the agreement and warning Tel Aviv against further escalation.
Posting a stern message on Truth Social, Trump said, "Israel Do not drop those bombs. If you do it is a major violation. Bring your pilots home, now! Donald J Trump, President of the United States."
The US President's post came amid reports that Israel had launched airstrikes in response to a missile fired from Iran.
Reacting to the developments, Trump said, "I am not happy that Israel is going out now. There was one rocket that I guess was fired overboard, and it missed its target. Now Israel is going out. These guys gotta calm down. Ridiculous. I didn't like the fact that Israel unloaded right after we made the deal... That's not what we want."
Trump accused both Israel and Iran of violating a ceasefire on Tuesday, hours after he announced it, seeming particularly annoyed with Israel, which had announced plans for major new strikes on Tehran.
Before boarding his plane for a trip to a NATO summit in The Hague, Donald Trump told reporters that he was 'not happy' with either side for violating the truce, and was 'really unhappy' with Israel, which he said had 'unloaded' straight after agreeing to it.
“I’m not happy with Iran either," Trump added.
