Causes of bumps and pimples after waxing

Bumps can occur due to contact dermatitis leading to allergies and skin rashes. Apart from fragranced soaps and detergents, it is also caused due to the chemicals used in the wax or the moisturiser that you apply after waxing.

Avoid using wax made from chemicals. Always do an elbow test before using creams, toners, and face washes directly on the face and other areas of the skin so that such issues are avoided.

Folliculitis and inborn hair are also other reasons for bumps after waxing. Similarly, pimples are mostly caused due to improper upkeep of the skin as after waxing the skin should be hydrated and moisturised but not oily. When you neglect your skin after waxing problems such as pimples and acne breakout arise.

Preventing bumps and pimples after waxing

Depending upon your skin type you must choose a proper soap or body wash, moisturiser, and toner so that your skin remains healthy and the pimple and acne breakouts can be prevented.

Avoid exposure to the sun immediately before and after waxing, especially if you are waxing in intimate areas. The skin needs some time to heal after waxing as hair from its pores has been uprooted. If your face or skin of other body areas get a sunburn due to too much exposure to the sun then your skin will take more time to heal both from the sunburn and waxing.

Your skincare routine should be based on the type of your skin. Make sure that if you have dry skin then your moisturiser and cleanser are rich enough to keep your skin hydrated all through the day. On the other hand, if your skin is oily, you must choose light skincare products that offer protection to the skin without increasing the oiliness.

Limiting foods like white flour, refined sugar, and meat before and after waxing also reduces your chances of getting bumps and pimples after waxing.
