Long serpentine queues at registration counters of SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack will soon be a thing of past thanks to the introduction of online OPD ticket booking facility launched at the State’s premier health institute on Monday.

The online registration facility is expected to be a boon for patients for more than one reason.

According to administrative officer of SCBMCH, Avinash Rout, once registered, the big relief patients would get first is that they don’t need to stand in queues out in the sun.

“After registration, a patient can get a printout of the ticket from anywhere. We have also opened a counter to help them get a ticket. We request people to avail the benefits of this facility,” Rout said.

Booking outdoor tickets couldn’t be simpler. It is just a click away. One needs to visit www.eswasthya.odisha.gov.in.

Once registered, an ID is allotted to the patients which contains all details of their diseases, treatments or in short the patient history. In case of emergency, a patient can visit any government hospital in Odisha where doctors can access his/her medical history stored in IDs for reference.

Several patients not only availed the facility but also expressed their happiness on Monday after the rollout of the scheme.

“After waiting for my turn for half-an-hour in a queue I was told about online registration facility. Fortunately, I didn’t have to wait in the sultry heat any longer. I think this will go a long way in redressing people’s sufferings,” said an attendant, Ananta Keshari Rout.
