The claims, however, are unsubstantiated by research, and there are other reasons to avoid a mono diet. Your body requires a variety of nutrient-rich meals for maximum health.

This diet is especially popular among individuals looking to lose weight since it concentrates completely on one meal or food category. It eliminates the majority of the calories that our bodies receive from a regular or balanced diet.

How does the mono diet function?

Because there are fewer nutrients for the body to metabolise and, as a result, fewer digestive enzymes necessary for the process, proponents of the diet claim that eating only one item for an extended period of time aids digestion. Bloating is reported to be minimised, nutrient absorption is boosted, your body is satiated with fewer calories, and cravings for junk food may even be removed because the body does not have to work as hard.

Is it effective?

Although you may lose weight while on this diet, you will almost certainly suffer from malnutrition and muscle loss, which will slow down your metabolism. The weight you lose on the Mono Diet will be restored once you resume eating regularly, thus reducing weight in the future will be more difficult.
