Rayagada: While many of those who have recovered from Covid-19 remain reluctant to donate plasma, a volunteer from the district isn’t thinking twice before going for it. In fact, he has donated plasma as many as three times in the last 15 days.

B Venkatesh has been donating blood for the last several years. But he realised the importance of plasma therapy after he recovered from Covid-19 last November.

“I was infected in November last year. Though I have been donating blood for the last several years, I realised the importance of plasma therapy only after watching an awareness video about it. I got inspiration from the video to donate plasma and was determined to save precious lives,” said Venkatesh.

Venkatesh has now devoted himself to the noble cause of saving Covid-19 patients. He travels to faraway places to donate plasma and help those infected by spending money from his own pocket. He did not charge a single penny from the positives.

He has also created a pan-India Covid-19 plasma group on WhatsApp where he assists and connects with plasma donors. He is also helping Covid-19 patients by arranging Oxygen and hospital beds for them.

This benevolent act of Venkatesh has earned him high praises from different quarters.

“The selfless act by Venkatesh has inspired one and all. He is doing a great job for the society by saving precious lives with his plasma donation. Others should also get inspiration from him and come forward to donate plasma which will be a great help for the recovery of Covid-19 patients,” said Doctor MM Majid.
