  • Endometriosis causes anemia in many women.
  • That is why they must include foods that are rich in iron and Vitamin B in their diet.

Endometriosis is a very painful issue that affects women. It is caused when tissue that is similar to the inner lining of the uterine grows outside the uterus. Although a few studies link food with endometriosis directly, certain researchers have found that the condition is most unlikely to occur in women who mostly eat lots of vegetables and fruits, dairy products, fish oils, and omega-3 fatty acids.

On the other hand, the same study says that women who regularly eat foods that are high in trans-unsaturated fatty acids, fat, beef, and alcohol have a high chance of suffering from endometriosis symptoms.

Foods to focus on to manage endometriosis

Different food seems to be working for different women in managing endometriosis. However, increasing the intake of foods that include vital nutrients is the key to managing this health problem.

Vitamin B-enriched vegetables

Estriol is a form of estrogen that can be easily excreted as it bounds to fiber. When you eat vegetables that provide a rich supply of Vitamin B, the estradiol is degraded to estriol. That is why to manage endometriosis the diet must include fiber and Vitamin B in adequate amounts that come from leafy green vegetables. Importantly, the magnesium in green vegetables soothes the muscles in the uterus and intestine.

The best vegetables that you can eat include turnips, horseradish, broccoli, sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage, radishes, kale, and watercress.

Replacing iron with iron-rich foods

Endometriosis causes a lot of bleeding and hence such women are more prone to anemia. It is important to recover the iron lost through bleeding. Foods like plain chocolate, beetroot, dried apricots, fish, eggs, and red meat are good sources of iron.

Omega fatty acids

Cold-pressed vegetable oils are extremely good for health. Foods that are high in omega fatty acids such as seeds, tree nuts, Alaskan salmon, Pacific halibut, and extra virgin cold-pressed olive oil help alleviate the symptoms of endometriosis.
