The famous Rukuna Rath Yatra, the annual chariot festival of Lord Lingaraj in Bhubaneswar, will be held on April 9 this year.

The timing of different rituals associated with the festival has been finalised during a coordination meeting with Collector held on Tuesday.

During the meeting, it was decided that the 'Pahandi' rituals and 'Ratharudha' will be carried out between 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm and the Chariot pulling ceremony will start from 3:30 pm onwards.

Meanwhile, the 'Bahuda' ritual will be observed on April 13.

It is pertinent to mention here that the chariot construction work for the festival was earlier scheduled to complete by April 8. However, the works hit a roadblock due to the delay in the arrival of timbers and, moreover, due to its poor quality. However, the temple administration and the chariot makers had expressed confidence of finishing the chariot making works in time.
