Lord Jagannath temple in Puri will remain closed for devotees today and tomorrow.

The 12th Century Shrine will remain shut on Sunday (November 14) as usual to ensure cleaning and disinfection of its premises. Whereas, the darshan of the Holy Trinity at the shrine will be prohibited for the devotees on Monday(Novemner 15) on the occasion of 'Bada Ekadashi' and the first day of the 'Panchak'.

This year, due to the Covid-19 imposed restrictions, the devotees will be deprived of watching the ‘Lakshmi Narayana Besha’ of the deities during 'Bada Ekadashi'. Devotees will also be barred to witness many other holy rituals during 'Panchak'.

In a bid to avoid large crowd to check the Covid-19 transmission, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has also decided to restrict public for darshan on 'Kartika Purnima' on November 19.

However, servitors will be allowed inside the temple to perform rituals on these festive days.

Earlier, in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, the SJTA had urged 'Habisyalis' not to attend the temple during the holy month of 'Kartika'.
