Instituted by Odisha's No.1 news channel, OTV, the prestigious annual Odisha Citizens Award 2022 were conferred on nine eminent personalities in recognition of their contribution to the society in their respective fields.

Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Tribal Affairs, Biseswar Tudu felicitated the winners with the award at a special ceremony in presence of IMD DG Mrutyunjay Mohapatra as another chief guest and Indian Hockey legend and Hockey India president Dillip Tirkey as a guest of honour.

Odisha Television Network MD Jagi Mangat Panda made the welcoming address.   • Health: Dr Prasant Kumar Sahoo
  • Politics: AICC Bihar and Manipur in-charge Bhakta Das
  • Social Service: Dr Narayan Panda
  • Sports: Para-athlete Jayanti Behera

Speaking on the sidelines of the felicitation ceremony, IMD DG Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said, "Odisha Citizens Award recognition to the contributions of people from varied fields like society, education and business is an extremely praiseworthy initiative. It will go a long way in inspiring people to excel more in life and make Odisha proud."

Union Minister Tudu said the most important aspect of Odisha Citizens Award is its rigorous selection procedure. The most pious effort in recognising the nine most deserving candidates from 4.5 crore Odias is a great achievement in itself.  

Dr Narayani Panda who has been conferred with Odisha Citizens Award in Social Service category made a stirring speech at the felicitation ceremony prompting the gathering of esteemed guests to give a thunderous applause. At the dusk of her life, Panda said that, "After retiring from medical services nearly 3 decades ago, I still love to work in a sickle cell project."
