Krishna Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna, is being celebrated in several temples across the nation as well as in Odisha on Thursday.

While the festivity is at its best in places like Vrindavan and Mathura, the festival is also celebrated with a lot of pomp and gaiety in Odisha as well.

On this auspicious occasion, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also greeted the people of his state. Taking to his Twitter handle, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik extended his best wishes.

With there being not much fear of the pandemic and no strict adherence to Covid-19-related restrictions, devotees are seen thronging Lord Krishna’s temples across the State.

While devotees in large numbers visited Srimandir in Puri from early in the morning, people were also seen making a beeline at the popular Khirachora Gopinath temple in Balasore and ISKCON temple in Bhubaneswar from early in the morning to seek blessings from Kanhaiya Lal. Special arrangements are in place at the shrines to ensure hassle-free darshan of devotees.

Every year, Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated on the eighth day of Krishna Paksha (eighth day of dark fortnight) in the month of Bhadrapada (Bhadrab).
