Odia New Year is a symbol of cultural richness, said President Droupadi Murmu while extending her wishes to the people of Odisha on the auspicious day on Sunday.

The President tweeted, "On the occasion of Pana Sankranti, I extend my heartiest congratulations to the people of Odisha and others living abroad. Pana Sankranti or Maha Bishuba Sankranti is celebrated with joy across the Odisha. Odia New Year is a symbol of cultural richness and I pray for the prosperity of the people of the state."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also wished the people of Odisha on New Year.

"Best wishes on Maha Bishuba Pana Sankranti and Odia New Year. We take great pride in the wonderful Odia culture. I pray that the year ahead is full of happiness and success. May all your dreams be fulfilled as well and may everyone be healthy," tweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik tweeted, "My heartiest greetings and best wishes to all on the occasion of Maha Bishuba Sankranti and Odin New Year. May the immense mercy of Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath fill everyone's life with happiness and prosperity."

BJP National President JP Nadda wrote, "My warmest regards to all the brothers and sisters of Odisha on the occasion of Maha Bishuba Sankranti. May this New Year bring good health, profound happiness, and prosperity to everyone's life. Wishing you all a year ahead filled with blessings and success. Jay Jagannath!."

BJP National Vice President Baijayant Panda also extended wishes on the auspicious day. 

Panda tweeted, "Heartiest greetings and best wishes to all on the occasion of the Maha Bishubh 'Pana' Sankranti and the Odia New Year, a unique festival of ordained culture and tradition. May this New Year fill everyone's life with happiness, peace and prosperity by the immense grace of Lord Sri Jagannath."
