Hundreds of Odia expatriates living in Taiwan celebrated Utkal Dibasa with great fanfare to mark the creation of Odisha as a separate State.

Despite living in a foreign land, the Odia people didn’t forget to observe Utkal Dibasa. The Taiwan Odia Samaj took the initiative to celebrate the day. On this occasion, different competitions among the children and elders were held and the winners were awarded.

Later, cultural programmes were presented to make the event colourful.  All the participants enjoyed the day to their heart content.

Similarly, like every year, the Odias living in Vishakhapatnam also observed the day in a grand way at the Jagannath temple complex on Dasapalla Hills. The event turned out to be a splendid display of true Odia culture, tradition and cuisine.

Hundreds of Odias wearing traditional clothes assembled on the premises of the Jagannath temple. The celebration began with Odisha Anthem ‘Vande Utkal Janani’.  The food festival organised on this occasion was the centre of attraction. Odias as well as non-Odia people enjoyed the wide variety of lip-smacking dishes. As many as 32 food items were available at the festival.

The Utkal Sanskrutika Samaj made the celebration more colourful by presenting cultural programmes including Odissi and Sambalpuri dances.
