Parents are an integral part of the development and growth of a child. And to ensure that this gesture of love and care is celebrated, every year National Parents’ Day is celebrated in India on July 23.

With age, the health of parents starts deteriorating and they need all the love and care that they showered on you when you were small. So it is time that you make a few commitments to your parents so that they can live a happier and more satisfied life during their old age.

Will always treat you with respect

Due to the generation gap more often, parents and children have different views on certain aspects of life. It is common in a family for parents and children not to agree on a particular topic. But even though there are fights and bickering, parents should never feel disrespected during any argument. That is the first commitment every person should make to their parents.

Will stay connected

Life has become very hectic today. Hence when everyone is engrossed in their career and other personal things, it becomes difficult to stay in contact or connected with those who once were the pillars of your life. But it is the duty of everyone to make sure that the parents do not feel lonely or neglected. That is why you must always try to stay at least connected with them through phone calls or occasional visits.

Remember their special days

Parents usually do not expect their children to shower them with gifts on their birthdays or anniversaries. But they expect them to at least remember and wish them on these special days. Children must always make sure that just as they celebrate their personal achievements, birthdays, and anniversaries, they must also mark the birthday and special days of parents on the calendar and wish them so that the parents feel happy and treasured.

Will support during good and bad

Health is the first priority during old age. Apart from that increase in medical expenses can also make parents dependent financially on their children. This is the critical time when parents immensely need the support of their children. And it is also the duty of the children to be with their parents in both good and bad times.

Let them enjoy their freedom

After a particular age, parents naturally become a bit dependent on children for many things. But that does not mean that they should do everything according to the wishes of their children. Be it their investments, distribution of wealth, or even their way of dressing or desire to travel, such things should never be dictated by children.
