Lakhs of devotees on Tuesday thronged the Pilgrim city of Puri to observe the Kartika Purnima and witness the famous Suna Besha (golden attire) of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Subhadra.
The devotees, mostly elderly people spent the night to witness the Suna Besha inside the Puri Temple on the occasion of Kartik Purnima. They took a holy dip in the morning and later offered prayers and witnessed the Suna Besha.
However, the timings of daily rituals have been rescheduled due to Chandra Grahan (lunar eclipse) today.
As per the revised schedule, the Dwara Phita Niti (gate opening ritual) was held at 12:15am followed by Mangala Alati, Abakasha Niti and other rituals in the wee hours of Tuesday. Later, the Suna Besha, also known as Rajadhiraj Besha, of Lord Jagannath and his siblings was performed at around 2:50am.
Later, the Bhoga Mandap rituals were done around 4:35am in the morning. The devotees were allowed to witness the Suna Besha of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra after 5:40am.
