The registration began on October 15 at Barabati Palace, but unlike previous years, offline applications have been denied. Traders like Mayadhar Sahoo face challenges with this shift as they must now use Jana Seva Kendras and pay Rs 5000 online to secure plots for the fair starting November 15.

With just a few days left for the historical Bali Yatra in Cuttack, the plot booking process has begun for traders/vendors visiting the grand fair. However, small and medium-class traders have opposed the online plot booking process.

As per reports, the registration of plots started on October 15 and will continue for 10 days till October 25 at the Barabati Palace. Earlier, it was announced that the registration for the plots could be done both online and offline from 10 am to 5 pm.

However, traders have now alleged that, unlike previous years, they cannot apply it offline this year. They have been directed to apply it online at Jana Seva Kendras.

While applying online can be an easy task, traders unaware of the new method had flocked to apply it offline. They were forced to return as they were denied offline registration. Moreover, the businessmen are required to deposit Rs 5000 in online mode.

“They turned me away by saying that everything now was being done in online mode. They are not ready to do it offline. Now, we have to go to a Jana Seva Kendra and apply it online. We have been directed to pay Rs 5,000 each online and then deposit the slip offline. Later, they will put up the lands for auction,” said a local businessman Mayadhar Sahoo.

This year, a total of 1100 plots will be put up for auction which is slated to be held on October 27.

Worth mentioning, Bali Yatra 2024 will begin on November 15 and conclude on November 22.
