The stage is all set for the historic Bali Yatra, the annual event which commemorates the rich maritime legacy of the mariners also called as the Sadhabas in Odisha.

The ancient Sadhabas would set sail to distant lands of Bali, as well as Java (at the time of the voyage known as "Yawadvipa"), Sumatra, Borneo (all in Indonesia), and Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon) for trade and cultural expansion.

Every year Bali Yatra is organised along the banks of Mahanadi river in the millennium city of Cuttack. Apart from this, a major portion of the open fair is also organised near the Barabati Fort area, thus being referred as the largest fair in Asia.

It is after a gap of two years that Bali Yatra 2022 will be organised in a grand manner as the annual event was cancelled owing to the Covid-19 restrictions.
