Veteran actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty performed ‘Akhi Muthi Anukula’ ritual in Pipili on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya on Sunday.

As per reports, the actor-turned-politician participated in an ‘Akhi Muthi Anukula’event held in Laxmi Narayanpur Panchayat’s Bilipada under Pipili block, organised by BJP. 

Before setting out for the event, the saffron party workers held a grand road show from Uttara Square and escorted the veteran actor to the venue. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra and party president of Puri district Ashrit Patnaik also participated in the roadshow. 

After taking a tour of different villages in Laxmi Narayanpur Panchayat, Mithun reached Bilipada where he performed the ‘Akhi Muthi Anukula’ ritual and sowed grain. 

Notably, Akshay Tritiya is considered an auspicious day by farming communities across Odisha and the ‘Akhi Muthi Anukula’ ritual is conducted to mark the initiation of this season’s agricultural activities.

Moreover, Mithun also paid tribute to martyred Odia jawan Debasish Biswal, who was among the five army personnel who lost their lives in a terrorist attack in the Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir on April 20. During an event organised in Satyabadi to pay homage to the martyred jawan, Mithun hailed the motherland for giving birth to a brave jawan.

“When I was invited to Odisha, I urged Samir Da (Mohanty) to visit Satyabadi to offer prayers to Sakhigopal and Radha Maa and to pay respect to the land where Debasish was born. He (Debasish) is alive and will remain forever,” said Mithun while addressing the crowd.
