78th Independence Day celebrated across Odisha with fervour

The 78th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and gaiety across the state on Thursday. 

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi hoisted the Tricolour and received the salute at the state-level Independence Day celebration at Mahatma Gandhi Marg in Bhubaneswar. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida unfurled the National Flag at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. 

In Puri, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling hoisted the Tricolour. Among others, Puri MP Sambit Patra, Puri district Collector and SP attended the event. Sambalpur district Collector Siddeswar Baliram unfurled the Tricolour at the district-level celebration. On this occasion, students presented some colourful cultural programmes. 

In Jharsuguda, the district-level celebration was held at Manmohan School Ground where district Collector Aboli Sunil Naravane unfurled the National Flag and received the salute. Similarly, Dhenkanal district Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay attended the district-level celebration and unfurled the Tricolour. In Jagatsinghpur, district Collector J Sonal hoisted the National Flag. Students’ cultural presentations made the celebration more colourful.

The Independence Day was celebrated on the premises of Orissa High Court. Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh, the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court unfurled the Tricolour.  

The Independence Day was also celebrated at the BJP, BJD and Congress party offices. BJP State President Manmohan Samal, Leader of Opposition and BJD Chief Naveen Patnaik and Leader of the Congress Legislature Party Ram Chandra Kadam unfurled the National Flag at their respective party head offices. 

OTV also celebrated Independence Day at its head office, Patia with patriotic fervour. OTV Network’s chief financial officer Sudhakrushna Maiti hoisted the Tricolour. Among others, Tarang’s creative head Ranjan Satpathy, OTV HR senior manager Utsa Pattnaik and staff attended the celebration.
