As many as 15 platoons of police force will be deployed in Capital City Bhubaneswar to maintain law and order during Dot fest, informed city Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prateek Singh on Saturday.

The Dot Fest will be held from January 15 to January 24. As per reports, the entire IDCO Exhibition Ground will be put under the CCTV surveillance for effective monitoring.

Out of the 15 platoons, five platoons will be used to maintain traffic situation in the smart city. Two Additional DCPs. Six ACPs and 19 IICs and 52 ASIs will be mobilised to supervise the security during the fest.

Vehicular movement will be prohibited in the stretch between Ram Mandir square and Sachivalay marg in the evening.

Informing about the same, DCP Prateek Singh said, “There will be performances of various celebrities at the venue. We have a sitting capacity of around 7,600 visitors. Apart from that, people can stand and watch as well.”

Singh also urged the ticket holders of both the Hockey World Cup and Dot Fest to use public transport (Mo Bus) service to avoid traffic congestion and parking problems.

There will be an International Food Festival at the Idco Exhibition Ground. There will be over 30 stalls to serve mouth-watering delicacies from 16 countries which are participating in the world cup. This apart, tourists and visitors will also enjoy food items from different states and local cuisine.

On the other side of the exhibition ground, there will be high-voltage entertainment programmes. Artistes including playback singers Udit Narayan, Alka Yagnik, Sukhwinder Singh, Niti Mohan, world-famous flutist Pandit Hari Prasad Chourasia, Sunil Grover and Siddharth Mahadevan will ensure a heavy dose of entertainment.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the ‘Dot Fest’.
