Odisha's Top Universities Failed In CAG's Employability Test

Odisha fails miserably in the Audit test on higher education. The record of the State's top higher edu institutes in employability and progression to higher studies are dismal. The dark underbelly of the higher education scenario in Odisha was put to glare by the CAG.

The report finds are given below.

•    In the indicator of the average percentage of placement of outgoing students during 2014-19, on an average only 26.10 per cent of outgoing students could be placed by Utkal University.
•    The proportion in North Odisha University is ridiculously low at 3.79 per cent.

•    NAAC awards maximum score to institutes having over 20 per cent placement, North Odisha University fails by yards.
•    In the indicator of increase in percentage of students progressing to  higher education during 2018-19, both Utkal and North Odisha University didn't maintain any data, despite during accreditation, NAAC awards maximum marks to institutes who show over 20 per cent progression record.
•    In the indicator of the average percentage of students qualifying n State/National/International level examinations during 2014-19 (NET/ SLET/ GATE/ GMAT/ CAT/ GRE/ TOEFL/ UPSC/ State Government),  Utkal University shows a deterioration. And the performance of north Odisha University is pathetic (see the table below)

•    During Accreditation, NAAC award full marks, if over 30 per cent of outgoing students qualify in competitive exams.
•    Despite funds availability, coaching for civil services exam discontinued.
•    In the indicator of average pass percentage of Students during 2018-19, the percentage in UU stood at 87 percent and 90.60 percent in NOU. (se e the image below)

•    As NAAC awards full mark to universities scoring over 90 per cent pass percentage, UU misses the criteria.
