  • Zoya Akhtar announced that she will direct the desi musical version of The Archies.
  • A buzz that Agastya Nanda, Suhana Khan, Ibrahim Ali Khan, and Khushi Kapoor will join this project is making rounds.

Zoya Akhtar today announced that she will soon direct The Archie’s desi musical adaptation that will include the famous characters Veronica, Archie, Betty, and Jughead.

A post indicating the same was shared by the famous director on her microblogging page in a very creative way. As expected, Reema Kagtai who has been the lead writer for most of Zoya’s projects will be on board for this desi adaptation of the internationally famous comic series that will release on Netflix.

While the announcement was made by Zoya today, the buzz that Zoya is interested in directing The Archies in Hindi triggered a long time ago. Interestingly, the buzz also said that famous Bollywood star kids like Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, Agastya Nanda, and Ibrahim Ali Khan will make a debut with this venture.

As of now, Suhana is still studying filmmaking in NYC, and Ibrahim is assisting Karan Johar in Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh-led Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. There is no update from either of these star kids whether they will be a part of this Zoya Akhtar-helmed project or not.

Most of the projects of the Gully Boy director are different, dynamic, and have been big box-office hits. Importantly, fans can expect something new and fresh with each of her films because she also co-writes them.

Apart from this desi adaptation of The Archies, Zoya is also busy co-producing and co-writing a big star-studded movie titled Jee Le Zara which will include Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt. Farhan Akhtar will return to direction after a long gap with this movie.

It was a dream of both Zoya and Alia to work in a road trip movie inspired by the success of Zindagi Naa Milegi Dobara.

It would be one of its kind Hindi movies presenting a genre rarely explored in Indian cinemas. Importantly, fans will get to see the trio of Alia, Priyanka, and Katrina share the screen which is a big thing
