The much-awaited trailer of Yami Gautam-starrer ‘Article 370’ was dropped recently and the film is based on the events that led to the revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. Yami Gautam plays an intelligence officer in the film who is posted in Kashmir to lead a mission.

The film seems loud, violent, and jingoistic, and looks like a follow-up to Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Kashmir Files’ which was released in 2022. Even as ‘The Kashmir Files’ was criticised and called a propaganda movie, it emerged as a box office success with over Rs 400 crore collection.

Meanwhile, Yami Gautam’s ‘Article 370’ is also being called a propaganda movie although the makers claim that it is ‘inspired by true events’. With the movie releasing just a few months before the 18th Lok Sabha Elections, liberals opined that the film was being made to further popularize the current Modi government to win the upcoming election.

Commenting on the same, actress Yami Gautam’s husband Aditya Dhar, best known for his work in Vicky Kaushal’s blockbuster movie ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ highlighted that the current government doesn’t need a small film to win elections.

During media interaction, Dhar who is producing ‘Article 370’ said, “Coming back to propaganda wala question, I personally feel the current government doesn’t need a small film to win elections. They have made Ram Mandir for us. It took us 500 years. I don’t think they need us for votes. So, this film is something that has right intent. The timing was decided almost a year back.”

Meanwhile, the message of the movie is clear and it says, “Poora ka poora Kashmir, Bharat Desh ka hissa tha, hai aur rahega!”

Apart from Yami Gautam, the film also stars South Queen Priyamani and Arun Govil in pivotal roles. Scheduled to release in theatres on February 23, the film is directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale.
