Aamir Khan
Aamir Khan is undeniably one of the most iconic actors in Indian Cinema. Known popularly as Mr Perfectionist for his compelling performances and careful choice of scripts, Aamir has consistently proven his mettle, from the emotionally powerful Taare Zameen Par to the globally acclaimed Dangal. However, his recent outings—Laal Singh Chaddha and Thugs of Hindostan failed to strike a chord with the audience. Now, after a three-year hiatus, Aamir is set to return to the silver screen with Sitaare Zameen Par, the spiritual sequel to his 2007 masterpiece Taare Zameen Par.
While Taare Zameen Par focused on a young boy battling dyslexia, Sitaare Zameen Par aims to broaden its lens. The film tells the story of ten specially-abled protagonists, including individuals with Down Syndrome, autism, and other challenges. What makes this film even more unique is that all central roles are portrayed by specially-abled actors themselves. This bold move underscores Aamir’s dedication to socially impactful storytelling.
Indian families often emphasize academic excellence, sometimes overlooking children's emotional and psychological well-being. Taare Zameen Par shined a light on this very issue, highlighting the consequences of pressurising children without understanding their unique needs. It brought dyslexia into the mainstream and taught the importance of empathy and acceptance.
Speaking about the upcoming film, Aamir stated, “There are ten protagonists, some with Down Syndrome, some autistic, some with multiple challenges. Along the spectrum.”
The film promises to be an emotional and eye-opening experience, much like its predecessor.
The trailer of Sitaare Zameen Par is set to release on May 1st, with the film scheduled to hit theatres on June 20, 2025. Fans are eagerly waiting to see how Aamir once again brings a meaningful and emotional narrative to life.
With Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan appears poised not just for a comeback but a cinematic revolution. If successful, this film could redefine how Bollywood portrays differently-abled individuals and further cement Aamir’s legacy as a socially conscious filmmaker. Whether it's nostalgia, inclusivity, or compelling storytelling, Sitaare Zameen Par promises to be a film to watch—and remember.
While Aamir is yet to make a box office comeback, Bollywood’s Badshah, Shah Rukh Khan, ruled 2023 with three consecutive blockbusters—Pathaan, Jawan (directed by Atlee), and Dunki (helmed by Rajkumar Hirani). On the other hand, Salman Khan saw success with Tiger 3 in 2023, but his recent action film Sikandar, co-starring Rashmika Mandanna, is struggling to sustain momentum at the box office, with collections stalling around ₹109 crore amid stiff competition.
