Well, who doesn’t know the gorgeous Sonali Bendre? The 90s diva needs no introduction. She was the original ‘Preity’ from Hum Saath Saath Hain much before ‘Preity’ of Kabir Singh. The stunning diva was the crush of every 90s men and ruled over millions of hearts worldwide. 

Her craze was so much that even a man committed suicide in the 1990s after failing to meet her. Yes, you read that right! The incident was reported from MP’s Bhopal. After failing to meet Sonali Bendre who had been to Bhopal for some work, the man reportedly committed suicide.

Recently, speaking on Mid-Day’s ‘The Bombay Film Podcast’ with Mayank Shekhar, Sonali Bendre opened up on the issue and sparked a debate on the extreme fan culture.

“How can someone….” Sonali Bendre expressed in disbelief. She further opened up on how she got fan mails that were actually written in blood.

“There’d be fan mails. We wondered to test if it was in actual blood. I’d be shattered if it was. Best to appreciate, and leave at that. How can people place humans on such a pedestal, that they’ll fall from, anyway,” Sonali stated.

Commenting on the fan culture and intense obsession, Sonali said, “I couldn’t understand that kind of obsession for somebody. The person will eventually fall off, which is why I could never put somebody up on a pedestal to that extent.”

Talking about Sonali Bendre, the gorgeous beauty was a model before making her big Bollywood debut with Aag. She later went on to gain critical recognition with ‘The Don’, ‘Gaddaar’ and ‘Takkar’. Her breakthrough came with Rakshak, Diljale, Sarfarosh and Hum Saath Saath Hain.
