Veteran Indian actor, screenwriter and film producer recently opened up about his relationship with Helen and why he sent superstar Salman Khan and his brother Arbaaz Khan to boarding school. During the heartfelt conversation, Salim also talked about the early days of his relationship with Helen when he was already married to his first wife Salma Khan.

Salim was first married to Sushila Charak, mother of Salman, Arbaaz and Sohail who later took the name of Salma. Speaking about the marriage, Salim Khan said, “My father-in-law told me that I was a nice guy but religion was the problem. I then told him, 'doctor sahib, meri aur apki beti ke 1760 problems ho sakte hain, but religion will never be one of them'.

“He did not accept our marriage for 10 years. He came for the first time after Sohail was born. He just saw us and went away,” he added.

He also opened up about his love relationship with veteran actress Helen and revealed, “At that time, it was crucial that my intention was understood by everyone, my kids, the household members, everyone knew that I didn’t want to leave the family or Helen. Your mother, Salma was the first to accept Helen, and gradually everyone started living harmoniously.”

He also remarked that many people have tried to depict this kind of relationship in films and real life, but it’s very difficult to give equal importance to both sides.

When he was asked about sending Salman and Arbaaz to boarding school, Salim Khan said, “That was the only way to ensure that there were no disruptions in their education. Naturally, they both would have been disturbed, which would affect their studies. But, I brought them back after two years.”
