When Mahesh Bhatt warned Soni Razdan 'I will destroy you'

Veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt is known for showcasing the dark side of his life in his films. Bhatt portrays unconventional storylines. His life being an open book, Bhatt always remained in the limelight for his personal life. 

Movie buffs are well aware of his affair with yesteryear diva Parveen Babi when he was married to Kiran Bhatt and both had a daughter, Pooja Bhatt.

In a recent interview with Arbaaz Khan, Bhatt revealed, “Arth which became a path-breaking film was built from the wounds of my failed marriage. People say Parveen’s second breakdown was because of Arth, but I don’t agree. I was talking about my life. It was an autobiographical film which was fictionalised.”

Talking about Parveen Babi, he further said, his memories with her were not pleasant. Recalling the time as painful, he added, “That wasn’t a pretty relationship. When Silsila was made public, extramarital affairs don’t take place in tulip gardens, they take place in a shady, dark land, we will hide, feeling of sin, it was a traumatic phase with Parveen.”

Bhatt also recalled the time when he “hijacked” Parveen Babi and took her to Bangalore for treatment as she suffered from mental illness.
Further, he went on to add, “I did not meet her after we parted ways in the 80s. UG helped me a lot. He told me, ‘You will not be out of this business and she is unfit for this business, if you really love her, leave her.”

After parting ways with Parveen Babi, he decided to spend time with his newborn son, Rahul Bhat. 

However, he again fell in love with Soni Razdan. Recalling the incident, he said, “I remember telling Soni, ‘Don’t come near me, I will destroy you.’ But she said she was ready to be destroyed.”

Later, this conversation became a dialogue in Raaz, featuring Dino Morea, Bipasha Basu and Malini Sharma. 

Currently, Bhatt is married to Soni Razdan and has two daughters with her Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt.
