  • A movie with the two in the lead was planned but could not go ahead because of Madhuri.

Madhuri Dixit and Amitabh Bachchan are the two biggest Bollywood superstars of their times. Though Madhuri came more than a decade after Bachchan in the film industry, the latter still worked as the leading man and hence many fans of the two wanted the superstars to share the screen as the lead pair. The dream did come true when Madhuri Dixit and Amitji were signed for the movie Shanakht to be helmed by Tinnu Anand.

However, something happened that forced the Dhak Dhak girl to leave the movie. Narrating the entire incident, Tinnu Anand recently said that Madhuri l eft the movie halfway because she refused to do a scene in which she was expected to remove her blouse.

The Khuda Gawah director said that when he narrated the script to the actress he had clearly stated that there was a particular scene where she would have to remove her blouse as the hero is caught by the enemy and is in chains. According to the director, since the hero is in danger, the actress will have to show that she is ready to give her everything for him and that is why she will have to remove the blouse.

Reportedly, Madhuri Dixit did accept the condition while signing the movie and later on had cold feet when the scene was to be shot. On the first day itself, the actress refused to shoot the shot. Tinnu Anand had a huge argument with Maddy regarding this but eventually, when she firmly refused to do the scene, Tinnu Anand asked her to pack up and leave the movie.

When Amitabh Bachchan came to know about this, he said that if Madhuri does not want to do it, Tinnuji should not force her to do it. But the Kaalia director was adamant that if she did not want to do the scene she should not have signed the movie. And that is how the movie was shelved.

However, years later when David Dhawan brought Govinda and Amitabh Bachchan together for Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, he roped in Madhuri to do a dance number with the two male leads and that is how the iconic “Makhna” was created.
