Sanjay Leela Bhansali has built up a strong reputation for himself as one of the most creative and successful Bollywood directors. Naturally, most of the leading actresses want to work with him.
Over the years he has worked with some of the most stunning actresses including Kajol, Manisha Koirala, Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Rani Mukerji, and Alia Bhatt.
Surprisingly, Kareena Kapoor Khan also started her career in Bollywood just a few years after SLB. But Bebo could never land a role in Sanjay’s movies and there is a strong reason behind it.
When the Good Newwz actress was a newbie in the industry Sanjay was looking for the ideal actress who could be cast as Paro in his next movie Devdas. Before that, he had already delivered hits like Khamoshi with Salman Khan and Manisha and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam with Ash, Ajay Devgn, and Salman. Naturally, this was the role every actress wanted to play.
For Sanjay, this casting was very important which is why he called Kareena for auditioning for the role. Bebo was accompanied by Karisma and Babitaji. Even during the audition, the Gangubai Kathiawadi director stated that he is just checking whether Kareena is suitable as Paro or not and this does not confirm anything.
Later on, SLB chose Ash over Bebo which did not go down well the latter. Instead of discussing things with the director, Kareena simply lashed out at him in the print saying that she was given the signing amount as well as a contract for Paro, and later on, he backed out. The actress vowed then that she will never work with Sanjay ever and that he does not know how to make films.
When Sanjay had a chance to open up about his side, the director said that he had clearly stated to Kareena that he found Aishwarya’s look more suitable and aristocratic than hers which was required for the role of Paro. That is why he selected Ash in the lead role of Devdas with Shah Rukh Khan.
Later on, when Sanjay and Kareena met at Sikander Kher’s birthday, both of them hugged and the former said to Bebo that he will definitely contact her if he has a suitable role for her.
