Hema Malini, Johnny Mera Naam
Hema Malini and Dev Anand worked with each other in many hit movies like Amir Garib, Johnny Mera Naam, and more. Both were big stars of their times and had immense following. Recently speaking at the 100th birth anniversary celebrations of Dev Anand in Jaipur, the real Dream Girl of Bollywood narrated an incident wherein she was trapped in an embarrassing situation with Dev Saab.
The incident took place during the shooting of the hit song “O Mere Raja” from the film Johnny Mera Naam. This particular song was being shot near Nalanda, Bihar. As a part of the choreography, they had to sit in a sky trolley to shoot a small portion. The beautiful veteran actress recalled that Dev Anand was already sitting on the rope chair and she was trying to find herself another rope chair. But Hemaji missed it and was forced to sit on the lap of her co-star which she found highly embarrassing. That was the actual scene but even then she felt embarrassed.

The Sholay actor said, “That was very embarrassing for me, in real life also, and in the film also I am feeling very uncomfortable,” she recalled. What increased their embarrassment for her further was that in the middle of the shot the electricity got disconnected. As a result, she had no option but to keep on sitting on his lap in the rope chair for a long time.
She did not want to put all her weight on him and even said to the Guide actor, “Dev Saab I do not want to sit like this.” Hemaji was also very scared and that is when Dev Anand asked her not to look down but to look into his eyes.
Yday was so special! In Jaipur, I participated in the centenary celebrations of my favourite Dev Saab with whom I have done some lovely movies. Organised by his fan club, it was a joyous event. The audience, young & old were so crazy about the legend, they were dressed like him,… pic.twitter.com/SY8PmZrBNE
