Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth are two acting legends of Indian cinema who need no introduction. The charisma of these actors onscreen still continues and the duo are the only two actors with the highest innings in Indian cinema. Amitabh and Rajini have a loyal fandom across the globe. Undeniably, these acting legends are the most respectable figures in the industry as well.

However, did you know, Govinda kept Amitabh and Rajini waiting for 5 days on the sets?

Amitabh, Rajinikanth and Govinda teamed up for Hum in 1991. Helmed by Mukul S Anand, the action crime movie still is remembered by movie lovers for the iconic trio and the hit number ‘Jumma Chumma De De.’ Hum remains one of the most successful movies of Big B for which he clinched the Best Actor award at the 37th Filmfare Awards.

Both Amitabh and Rajinikanth are known to be the most punctual actors in the Indian Cine Industry who arrive on the sets before time. Though hard to believe, both the legendary actors waited for 5 days as Govinda failed to arrive on the sets.

Recently, one of the most sought-after stunt directors of Bollywood, Ravi Dewan shared his experience of working with Amitabh, Rajinikanth and Govinda in Hum. During a candid interaction with Bollywood Thikana, Dewan showered praises on the two legendary actors. Moreover, he recalled the incident of how they had to wait for five days on the sets due to Govinda.

Dewan was quoted as saying, “We used to schedule the shoot whenever all three actors were available. There was a situation when we had to shoot a scene in Ooty with all three actors together. Amitabh ji and Rajinikanth ji were the kind of actors who would arrive on set half an hour before their call time, while Govinda would join us after lunch.”

Further, he added, “I have done films which were bankrolled by him but he won’t come on time even for his home productions. He had the issue of timing but we had to manage.”

When asked about how Amitabh and Rajinikanth used to react to Govinda’s late arrival, Dewan said, “There was an early morning shot in Hum, featuring all three actors. Amit ji and Rajinikanth ji would be prepared and present on set at the appointed time. However, we waited for Govinda to join us at sunrise for four to five days, but he didn’t turn up on time.”

“I don’t know the reason behind him being late but he was never on time. In the end, we had to drop that scene from the film,” he added.

Hum also featured Kimi Katkar, Deepa Sahi, Shilpa Shirodkar, Danny Denzongpa, Anupam Kher and Kader Khan in pivotal roles.
