  • Juhi Chawla celebrates her 55th birthday today.
  • Here's how a few wrong decisions of the superstar contributed to making Karisma Kapoor a superstar.

Juhi Chawla is one of the biggest Bollywood stars of the 90s who worked with almost all the leading heroes of her time except Salman Khan. While her first big hit was Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak with Aamir Khan, her tiff with her co-star on the sets of Ishq led to Juhi making a bad career decision which she regrets even today.

After their first film together, Juhi and Aamir went on to work in many more movies and were considered a paisa wasool pair during those times. However, the Dangal actor’s one prank cost him his friendship with his longtime co-star.

Juhi was upset with Aamir’s prank

Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgn, Kajol, and Juhi were shooting for Ishq when Aamir Khan’s prank created a rift between him and Juhi. The latter did not like the way Aamir Khan tried to trick her and it made her so upset that she did not return for shooting the next day. The Dil actor had to finally apologize to make her return to the shoot. However, this also hurt Aamir badly and from then on they did not speak with each other for 4 to 5 years.

It was during this time that Juhi was offered the lead female role in Raja Hindustani. Since it had Aamir as the lead hero, the Miss India pageant winner simply turned down the offer and was replaced by Karisma. The movie made Lolo an overnight superstar and to date, Juhi regrets turning down the role.

Juhi did not want to do a second lead opposite Madhuri

Juhi was also offered the role of the second female lead in Dil Toh Pagal Hai which also starred Madhuri Dixit and Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. She had already delivered a big hit with Darr and was in no mood to take up the role against Maddy who was a big superstar during that time.

Later on, the same role was offered to Karisma Kapoor who too earlier did not want to do it because she had to dance in competition with Madhuri who to date is known as one of the best dancers in Bollywood.

But her mother Babita made her realise that it was a YRF movie and that if she takes up this challenge, it will certainly benefit her career. So ultimately the role went to Karisma Kapoor who even won a National Award for this movie.

Today, Juhi Chawla regrets these decisions of her and feels that when you are successful, you let your ego rule your brain, and then you make all the wrong decisions.
