Streaming of Odia web-series Raktatirtha started on the Republic Day (Thursday) on Tarang’s Over The Top (OTT) platform, Tarang Plus.

The web-series has a total of eight episodes. While the viewers will have to subscribe to the Tarang Plus to watch the series, the first episode streaming today has been made free for all.

The web series is produced by Tarang Cine Productions.

Raktatirtha attempts to bring back the terrifying memories of the Eram massacre which occurred on September 28, 1942, at Eram in Odisha's Bhadrak district.

The trailer of the series was released on January 15 and has received positive response from the audience by garnering 1.24 lakh views so far.

On September 28, 1942, the Imperial police opened fire on a group of freedom fighters who were peacefully protesting the foreign occupation of Odisha. In one of the deadliest massacres during the British occupation, as many as 29 freedom fighters were killed by police fire and 56 more injured in Eram.

Eram is also known as the second Jallianwala Bagh, where more than 300 innocent Indians died after General O’ Dwyer ordered to open fire on them in 1919.

Raktatirtha features Abhishek Giri, Cookies Swain, Manoj Patnaik, Pradeep Kumar Sahoo, Prithviraj Nayak, Prasanjeet Mahapatra, Hara Rath, Shasha Alexander and Anjana Dash in key roles.
